There’s too much of news already about the radiation leaked in Japan after the aftermath of the Fukushima nuclear catastrophe. In fact, there’s been a sudden need of Iodine which according to a lot experts will helps in protecting if you’re exposed on a nuclear radiation.

Why Do You Need IODINE to Protect against Radiation?

Dr. Brownstein one of the top experts on iodine explains about radiation exposure: “If there is enough inorganic, non-radioactive iodine in our bodies, the radioactive fallout has nowhere to bind in our bodies. It will pass through us, leaving our bodies unharmed. It is important to ensure that we have adequate iodine levels BEFORE this fallout hits.”

You need iodine to make the thyroid hormones that regulate your body’s metabolism. In fact, that’s all iodine does for you, but it’s a lot: Those thyroid hormones play a big role in your growth, cell reproduction, nerve functions, and how your cells use oxygen.

Dr. Brownstein explains that you must get iodine in your body BEFORE being exposed to radiation. Unfortunately, iodine deficiency was a serious problem. He further explained that “Humans tolerate large doses of iodine so the very high dosages recommended for protection for radioactive iodine are not usually a problem except for those who already have serious problems with their thyroids, which is quite a lot of people considering how many are deficient in this vital nutrient.”

Standard Dose For Potassium Iodide During Radiation Emergencies:

For Potassium Iodide (also called KI) is a salt of stable (not radioactive) iodine.

Since there’s no there will be little or no time to consult doctors and other health care practitioners to get the proper dosage. The standard dose for potassium iodide during radiation emergencies:

For infants, babies and children, KI is administered for exposure of 5 centigrays (cGy) or more.

For birth through 1 month, 16 mg can be administered;

For 1 month through 3 years, 32 mg can be administered;

For 3-12 years, 65 mg can be administered;

For adolescents ages 12-18 years, 65 mg can be administered (or up to 120 mg if the adolescent is approaching adult size).

2. For Nascent iodine, though more expensive, actually tastes and feels good while going down and is gentle enough to give to children, who do not seem to complain about its taste.

The recommendation would be to use in high dosages to both saturate the thyroid (which makes it less vulnerable to chemical and radioactive attack) while it will also knock out any contaminants already absorbed. One hundred drops a day is a strong dose, but when treating life threatening diseases it would not be unheard of to use upward of 200 drops a day in divided doses, but if you get your iodine on the day the news is sounding the radiation alarm I would jump right to 100 drops or 50 drops in divided dosages for children.

Side Effects of OneTime High Pulse Dosage of Potassium Iodine

These onetime high pulse dosages of potassium iodine are necessary during an emergency but they do not come without some risk of side effects, which include:

severe allergic reactions (rash, hives, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue),

black, tarry stools,

confusion,

fever,

irregular heartbeat,

metallic taste in the mouth,

mouth sores,

numbness or tingling of the hands or feet,

skin rash,

stomach pains,

swelling in the neck or throat,

unusual tiredness,

weakness.

When faced with a radioactive cloud it is absolutely imperative that you take iodine, whatever iodine you can get your hands on. If the only iodine available is topical iodine that is not suitable for oral use then you should paint your body and your children’s bodies with it.

But what exactly is an Enzymes and Hormones?

Enzymes are chemical compounds your body makes from various combinations of proteins, vitamins and minerals. Enzymes speed up chemical reactions in your body.

Hormones are chemical messengers your body makes to tell your organs what to do. Hormones regulate many activities including your growth, blood pressure, heart rate, glucose levels, and sexual characteristics.

It is the responsibility of the vitamins and minerals to produce thousands of enzymes and hormones to keep your body working.

STUDY SHOWS VITAMIN D SUPPLEMENTS TAKEN EARLY IN LIFE HELP IN THE PREVENTION OF OSTEOPOROSIS

- Clinical study at Australian Catholic University indicates the benefits of USANA Active Calcium chewables on bone development in females ages nine to 13 -

SALT LAKE CITY—July 19, 2010—“Eat your veggies,” “Don’t run with scissors” and now “Take your calcium and Vitamin D.” A clinical study conducted at the School of Exercise Science at Australian Catholic University, has shown that taking high quality calcium supplements like USANA’s Active Calcium could help preadolescent girls set the stage for a lifetime of strong, mineral-rich bones. Study results indicated that a supplement containing high quality calcium plus Vitamin D significantly improved bone density, mass and strength in girls ages nine to 13—exactly what experts want to achieve in that time of life to prevent future skeletal issues.

This study is unique because it’s the first randomized, controlled trial to assess bone responses to calcium in twins. Using twins factors out genetic complications that have plagued studies; in working with the Australian Twin Registry, 20 pairs of female twins between the ages of nine and 13 were selected to participate. Scientists administered one twin in each pair a placebo and one twin USANA’s Active Calcium. After six months the study showed significant improvements in bone development in the twin who received the supplement.

“Experts regard osteoporosis as a pediatric disease because the best time to prevent is during childhood and early adolescence,” says Dr. Tim Wood, Executive Vice President of Research and Development at USANA Health Sciences, Inc. “Women put on 50% of their adult bone mineral mass during their teenage years. As such, this is the best time to grow strong, mineral rich bones and the most effective way to prevent osteoporosis later in life.” Dr. Wood adds, “We are particularly excited about these findings because they confirm results previously shown in another study conducted in the U.S. at the University of Utah.”

Osteoporosis is a disease in which bones become fragile and more likely to break. If not prevented or if left untreated, osteoporosis can progress painlessly until a bone breaks. While women are four times more likely than men to develop the disease, men also suffer from osteoporosis. It’s important for the body’s bone structure and integrity that bones absorb the right levels of calcium and magnesium, and vitamin D helps this process. USANA’s Active Calcium is a balanced and complete formula of these important ingredients. For a calcium supplement to be effective, it must be absorbable, and USANA’s Active Calcium formula is the outstanding choice among competitors.

OBJECTIVES. The purpose of this study was to examine prospectively the association between reported use of vitamin supplements and risk of cataract and cataract extraction.

METHODS. The study population consisted of 17,744 participants in the Physicians’ Health Study, a randomized trial of aspirin therapy and beta-carotene among US male physicians 40 to 84 years of age in 1982 who did not report cataract at baseline and provided complete information about vitamin supplementation and other risk factors for cataract. Self-reports of cataract and cataract extraction were confirmed by medical record view.

RESULTS. During 60 months of follow-up, there were 379 incident cataracts and 109 cataract extractions. In comparison with physicians who did not use any supplements, those who took only multivitamins had a relative risk of cataract of 0.73 after adjustment for other risk factors. For cataract extraction, the corresponding relative risk was 0.79. Use of vitamin C and/or E supplements alone was not associated with a reduced risk of cataract, but the size of this subgroup was small.

CONCLUSIONS. These data suggest that men who took multivitamin supplements tended to experience a decreased risk of cataract and support the need for rigorous testing of this hypothesis in large-scale randomized trials in men and women.

For the first time, new clinical research provides evidence for a relationship between maternal vitamin D levels and select markers of infant dental health.

The relationship between vitamin D and adult bone health is well-understood. However, until recently less has been known about the relationship between maternal vitamin D status and infant bone health. A new study out of the University of Manitoba sheds new light on this subject by examining the relationship between maternal vitamin D status and two measures of infant dental health: enamel hypoplasia (EH) and early childhood caries (ECC).

206 pregnant women enrolled in the study during their second trimester. Serum vitamin D analyses revealed that more than a third of the women were vitamin D deficient (34.5%, deficiency defined as <= 35 nmol/L). Only 21 women had adequate levels of vitamin D (10.5%, adequacy defined as >= 80 nmol/L).

Over the next two years, 135 infants returned for a dental health examination. 21.6% had EH while 33.6% had ECC. Mothers of children with EH had lower vitamin D concentrations during pregnancy, though the result didn’t quite reach statistical significance (43.2 vs 51.4 nmol/L, p=0.07). However, mothers of children with ECC had significantly lower vitamin D levels than those whose children were caries-free (43.9 vs 52.8 nmol/L, p=0.034).

This study is the first to provide evidence for a correlation between maternal vitamin D levels and infant dental health, and additional research currently underway should shed further light on this important issue.

Everyone knows that the human body needs a certain amount of vitamins and minerals everyday to function properly and remain healthy. A well balanced diet can supply your body with the vitamins it needs, although problems and disorders can arise if your diet doesn’t supply your body with the vitamins it needs.

The symptoms of vitamin deficiency will normally present themselves when the lack of vitamins is at an advanced level.

Those who don’t get enough of vitamins A, B1, and B2 for example, will always feel tired, along with a loss of appetite. Other symptoms include mental and emotional stress, chapped lips, and other annoying or painful habits.

The most common causes of deficiency include a poor diet, alcoholism, stress, a lack of vitamins, or medicine that interferes with your ingestion of vitamins. If you are always feeling tired or feeling a lack of energy, you are probably short on the vitamins that your body needs to have on a daily basis. If you visit your doctor and tell him the problem, he will probably recommend vitamins and supplements that will give you want you need. Whatever you do, you should never overdo it and try to catch up on what you’ve been missing – as this will do you more harm than good.

Even though you may be following a healthy diet, you’ll still need to take vitamins and supplements. No matter how healthy you eat, you should still use the right vitamins and supplements to give your body what it needs. Vitamins are a great back up source, as they will provide your body with the minerals and nutrients it needs in the event of your diet failing you.

Before or after every meal that you consume, you should take vitamins or supplements. If you have a deficiency in a certain vitamin or vitamins, you should make sure that you never miss taking the vitamin you need. Even though you may not realize it, being deficient in a vitamin can greatly damper your performance as well as the overall health of your body.

When you look for supplements, you should always look for those that contain vitamins B6, B12, D, E, and folic acid. Along with being considered dietary supplements, these well known vitamins will help to fight cancer and help your heart remain healthy. The combination of these vitamins will help your body to remain healthy, boost your immune system, and keep you feeling refreshed.

To remain healthy and keep your body operating as it should, you’ll need to invest in vitamins and supplements. You can find them online or at local nutrition stores, many of which won’t cost you much money at all. No matter what your age may be, you’ll need to ensure that you are eating the right foods and taking the right foods. Keep in mind that you should never replace food with vitamins, as they are more less meant to give you additional nutrients and minerals.

Anytime you aren’t able to eat the right food, you should always turn to vitamin supplements to give your body what it needs. Supplements and vitamins are one of the best investments you can make, as everyone needs vitamins in their body. Even though the costs may add up over time, it is more than worth it when you think about. For what you spend in vitamins and supplements, you’ll be keeping your body healthy – and preventing a deficiency in vitamins. Although vitamin deficiency is very common these days, it doesn’t have to be.

Getting the right amount of vitamins is very crucial both for your body and your health. Each vitamins classification serve a unique purpose. A certain amount of each vitamins is needed to keep your body healthy.

B Vitamin , which was discovered by mixing several chemicals together is so diverse. B vitamins were once thought to be a single vitamin, but Scientist divided it into eight different variations when they found out how complex the B vitamins are. These variations include B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, and B12. These are generally referred to as a vitamin B complex.

Deficiency of B Vitamin Can Result to:

weight loss

weakness

stress

diarrhea

dementia

anemia

and other things.

Health Benefits of B Vitamins

healthier skin and muscle tone

promote cell growth and division

faster metabolism

overall better immune system.

B vitamins can also help in fighting back against depression and stress as well.

The B vitamins are among the most important vitamins although other vitamins are essential too. All vitamins must be part of the daily diet of the individuals. These will greatly improve your body’s overall health.

Even though you may be taking a healthy diet, you may not be getting what the required amount of the B vitamin family. Take vitamin supplements to give you the doses of the B vitamins you need. You may not be realizing it but insufficient B vitamins can be very bad on your body and your health.

Getting injured or sick is a part of lives, somehow we will all experience this. Below are some facts on how the human body reacts to the stresses and dangers from the outside world.

According to a study, heart attack usually happens on Monday. Another reason to hate Mondays! Scottish researchers in their 10 year study found that 20% more people die of heart attacks on Mondays than any other day of the week. The theory behind is that it’s a combination of too much fun over the weekend with the stress of going back to work the following day that causes the increase of heart attack.

Humans can live longer without food than sleep. As long as there is water, the average human can survive up to two months without food depending on their body fat and other factors. Sleep deprived people will experience radical changes on personality and psychological after only a few sleepless days. 11 days is the longest recorded time anyone has ever gone without sleep. At the end of the experiment, the subject was awake, but messing up with words, hallucinated and most of the time forgot what he was doing.

A simple, moderately severe sunburn damages the blood vessels extensively. How extensively? Studies have shown that a burn like this can take 4 to 15 months for them to return to their normal condition.

Stress can caused or complicated 0ver 90% of diseases. It could also be the reason in increase of your chances of having a array of serious medical conditions like depression, high blood pressure and heart disease.

A human head remains conscious for about 15 to 20 seconds after it is been decapitated. Ouch! But how it can remain conscious? The reason is that, the head has still adequate blood to keep it alive and conscious for a few seconds right after the head has been decapitated. Reports as to the accuracy of this are widely varying and there’s no scientific evidence ever reported.
